Soundtrack to my life

Soundtrack is a recording of the musical accompaniment to a movie. It's your emotions and change with music in your life. Soundtrack to me means music that plays how you are feeling at that time. Music has a purpose which is to express emotions, plain and simple. That is what a soundtrack's purpose is. The songs on my soundtrack are Kendrick lamar- good kid, Odd future-radical, and black sabbath- electric funeral.

My inspirational song is by Odd Future, and the name of the song is Radical. Follow your dreams and formulate your own ideas and beliefs. Just always be yourself and don't change for anybody because when it comes down to it you only have yourself in the end. I found this iinspirational quote that relates to this song "Im not saying to go out and do some stupid shit, commit crimes what im trying to tell you is, do what the fuck you want stand for what the fuck you believe in, and don't let nobody tell you what you can't do, do what the fuck you want, I'm a fucking unicorn, and fuck anybody who say im not. wolf gang." All my life i had always dealt with opinions, so this inspires me because now i stand up for who i am and do what i want. It showed me that it is okay to be yourself and follow your dreams.

I choose Radical because it's an important song that will influence my life. Radical is a song that inspires people to be themselves. This song represents many things about me. Sometimes i lose myself not really knowing who i am, and listening to others opinions. I know who i am today and accept me for me. I follow my dreams and do what i want and ignore peoples opinions. This song is important to me because it has a meaning to it. It inspires people, but it also reminds me to always be myself no matter what and ignore what people think.

The artist of this knowledgeable song is kendrick lamar, and the songs name is, good kid. The main purpose is effects of gang-culture and being unable to escape the question of gang-affiliation. Gangs will never escape this world so we question when the violence will stop. An important quote i found would be "but what am i supposed to do, when the topic is red or blue, and you understand that i ain't, but know I'm accustomed to." Red or blue refers to the L.A gangs blood and crips. Violence is not the answer, this song expresses why can't violence stop.

My second life soundtrack would be good kid by Kendrick lamar a political song in my opinion. I choose this song because i am against gang violence. This song shows the meaning of questioning violence and how you can't escape it. It also represents that even rappers care about stoping gang violence. I remember when i was young and me and my mom lived in city heights which is considered a bad area, and we were coming home late one night, and we saw a dead body in the ally. Every since then i have been against violence especially gang violence, because they have no heart. What makes this song important is that sometimes we are as a nation and community afraid to speak up about gang-violence. No matter where we go in this world it will never stop.

The third song that represents my life soundtrack would be black sabbath- electric funeral. The main purpose of this song electric funeral is the world coming to an end due to nuclear destruction, but can't blame them it is metal of course. A quote that relates to this song is "Three flecks in the sky warn you you're gonna die." This quote relates to the song because the bombs appear in the sky.

I choose electric funeral because it is my favorite metal song of all times. It's one of my favorite bands as well. This song defines that i am an angry person at times ( In a metal way if you know what i mean). When i first heard this song it reminded me of the old times when bones brigade was out. The bones brigade is a skateboarding group back in the early 1990's. The song to me doesn't really state anything. It is more the instruments it's pure bliss. I go out an skate to this song and it makes me feel free. I get this hyper vibe when i hear it, it for sure makes me want to go out and skateboard. That's what makes this song important to me because it makes me feel free, but it also shows me i can enjoy music no matter what genre it is.

In conclusion my whole soundtrack means the world to me. It makes me for the most part who i am today. My soundtrack ha three different types of music such as an, inspirational, political, and a free feeling kind. It shows how i became who i am today. A song shows your emotions, it tells a story. That's why i feel the songs on my soundtrack are important. I recommend to check these songs out. It might give you inspiration or purpose.

Only Daughter

In her essay “Only Daughter”, from Latina Women’s Voices from borderlands author Saundra Cisneros states, “I am the only daughter in a family of six sons. That explains everything.” The main idea of this quote is that she feels out of place being the only girl out of her six brothers. Also, that no matter your ranking in your family, your family still loves you no matter what.

                 Something the author said that is worth thinking about is when Sandra Cisneros claims, “I wanted my father to understand what it was I was scribbling, to introduce me as “My only daughter, the writer.” Not as “This is only my daughter. She teaches.” Es mastera-teacher. Not even profesora.” This quote is important in this essay because it shows she wants her father to show more attention and care towards her. Since she is the only girl of seven boys in a Mexican family her father expects her to be married. But since she is going to college he shows disappointment towards her.

                This does not completely relate to me besides me being the only child. I do know how it feels not feeling appreciated by your parent. This idea to me is quite misconceived, although she doesn’t feel loved at the end of the day I believe her father still loved her. Even though she was the only girl in a family of six brothers and her being the only girl she proved her father wrong. She went to college when he expected her to get married. I feel that she should do whatever she wants as a woman. The idea im sure relates to a lot of Mexican woman in this world. In the end of this essay she tells us how her father liked her story. This brings me to what I think, which would be at the end of the day your parents will love you no matter what. I hope after reading this you can consider being in her position, and being as strong as she was.

Inocente: Persuing Dreams

Inocente is a short documentary directed by Sean Fine and Andrea Nix, explores the dark side of childhood. Inocente has every reason to be dark and grim. The 15 year old from San Diego has been homeless most of her life. However, the aspiring artist chooses to live her life. However, the aspiring artist chooses to live her life in full, vibrant color. One of the quotes that really got to me is where Inocente was talking about why she got into art. “I was going to the Monarch School in San Diego. ARTS (A reason to survive) offered an after school program. It was about five years ago… We would do collages, painting, water colors. Painting was more my calling… Sometimes I recycle canvases. There was a canvas that I added onto because I felt like adding onto it would be better than painting over it. I wouldn’t like it if someone painted over my art... Kids really inspire me because when they paint they don’t really care about mistakes. That’s the way I paint. If I spill paint I leave it as is.” As you see she doesn’t care about mistakes she just enjoys the life in painting. It was her way of getting away from her problems. I’m proud to be an artist and she inspired me to never give up and continue perusing your dreams. I believe what I feel because she was homeless and she strived to do her best. That shows anything is possible if you put your mind to it. She never gave up even though she was homeless she ended up having her own art show and sold all her paintings. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me. Just continue following dreams because they can come true if you try hard enough. So ask yourself this, is it possible to achieve dreams? Regardless of your situation. Yes it is so go out there and make it happen, because anything is possible.

Find A Good Frog

 In her essay "Find a good frog", Delia Motavalli tells us how when she was a child she believed in the romance cause she has grown up on watching movies about fairy tales and princesses. But after she received a piece of advice from her mother, Delia has come to realize her own definition of "Happily ever after". I used to believe in the "Happily ever after". My reason for saying i used to believe in "Happily ever after" is because i used to always watch Disney movies and think that's how my love life is gonna turn out when i get older. But as i grew up i realized that the movies are not like real life. They are not like fairy tales where you get Mr.prince charming and the happy ending. You just have to face reality that life is not a movie. So i guess what im basically trying to prove here is the Disney we saw as kids are completely never gonna happen in this lifetime. Maybe it will happen but in the simple way.

The American Dream Lives On

In her essay "The American Dream Lives On", Yasmina Shaush tells us her story of how when she was a young immigrant moving to the united states and how she felt pressure. Yashima Shaush has come to believe that the beauty of America is the opportunity for success if you work hard and have the determination. In America anything is possible if you put your mind to it and believe in yourself. I can definitely agree that America is the land of opportunity. My reason for saying America is the land of opportunity is because it's true . America has so many options and great experiences and opportunities. Such as the free enterprise system where anyone can build a business and make a living they want to. Even though other countries have this, we were one of the first. Since the people here are diverse, getting a job is easier (in most cases), you don't have to bribe anyone or have a connection with the boss. That is why America is the land of opportunity, Why it has very many opportunities. So ask yourself is America
really the land of opportunity? and when you answer this question wonder if it's still the land of opportunity.

Doll face (How T.V corrupts us into being something were not)

    People are overly influenced by what they see on TV. It's as if we are there little robots as you see in the video and they are brainwashing our minds into thinking we want to be like that person. How far will you stretch yourself to be someone you're not?

In this video "Doll Face" it begins to give you this creepy feeling. Then a black and white TV appears. As they show the TV you see a metal box appears to be a jack in the box look alike. Then this mechanical robot pops out with a human face. As this face pops out she focuses on the TV. As she is watching this TV she sees how on the TV the person appears to have makeup. When she sees that she does the same thing and put's on makeup. It's basically herself in the TV and her images as a person. The images get in more detail and more human like, she gets angry because she feels ugly and wants to be like who she sees on TV. As we get more into the video at this point she is just experimenting but you also notice she is getting more skillful and changing her image with no questions asked. The TV moves more and more back which is showing the moral how far will you stretch yourself to be someone you're not. At the end of the video she was stretching herself so far just to be someone she is not to the point that she broke herself. That's when the TV came off and showed another TV watching the mechanical robot and TV. 

      People are overly influenced by what they see on TV. It's such a true statement because as you seen in the video the robot was just doing what she saw on the television. She was being brainwashed by what the media thinks she should look like. She was stretching herself to be someone she is not which led her to breaking herself. So ask yourself these questions Do you think you're influenced by media on TV? Do you feel you have to be somebody else to be accepted in this world even a different race?

500 Years Later

The video titled "500 years later" talks about the beginning of the slave trade from Africa to the European continent. This video talks about how religon was forced upon africans and now Christianity is the main religon amongst African Americans and others. They also talk about education and how "black history" is not taught in school and mostly college. 500 years ago africans were free. My opinon is valid because this video is showing the journey of african people. It is educational and posseses the problems but also the realistic solutions. The best part of this video for me is the way in which it doesn't portray or play into the stereotype of the "black victim" the sorry everything is against us victim. It puts back the responsibility for our people.
